Strawberry Season

Eating seasonally is sometimes a challenge, but so worth it when you have fresh-picked, locally grown produce!  The strawberry season is painfully short, – this weekend will most likely be the last – but other fresh berries are around the corner (raspberries, blueberries, etc).  This Friday and Saturday I’ll have gluten-free/dairy-free strawberry bread made with finely sliced fresh strawberries, free-range chicken eggs, olive oil, cane sugar and gluten-free flour.

I’m trying my best to not eat all of the loaves that come out of the oven!  The smooth, light pink batter, the smell of sweet cinnamon baking, and the crispy top are pure divinity!  Get some while they last at the Petworth Community Market Friday, June 8 from 4-8 p.m. or Columbia Heights Community Market Saturday, June 9 (starting at 9 a.m.)
